There are plenty of different alcoholic drinks available these days that it is confusing to know what to buy. One of the best ways to discover which the best value for money wines are is to read reviews. That means you will have some inclination of the flavour of wine it is as well as the quality of the wine. Others opinions are really the best way of discovering great wines.
I used to often drink cocktails and have a good Apple Slut recipe which I used to make up. Even the most elaborate cocktails are actually easy to make. For instance, the Apple Slut recipe includes these ingredients:

I have discovered which are the best organic wines available and believe that drinking wine over cocktails generally means I get a great drink which is most likely healthier and with fewer calories.
Whenever possible I prefer to buy organic wine or preservative free wine. I love French wines but am willing to try anything. I have happily tried wines from South Africa before and they have been some of the best wines I have ever had. It is not always a good idea to pick a wine based on the country where it is produced, you can be amazed at the quality of wines grown in regions not known for wine production.
There are many places where you can find wine information to help you make the best choice in wine. Whether you prefer rose or sparkling wine, you can find recent reviews online. I like to read wine forums because you can then get fairly instant comments on the wine you are thinking of drinking.
